Concurrent with the Iranian president’s visit to New York, the Department of Issuing National Cards for Iranians living in the United States was launched by Iran’s Interests Section in Washington.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and his accompanying delegation met with the head and members of Iran’s Interests Section Office in Washington as part of their working schedule in New York and were closely informed of the latest status of services provided to Iranian expatriates in the US.
Saeed Iravani, the ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, and Zahra Ershadi, the deputy representative and deputy ambassador of Iran to the United Nations also attended the meeting.
Amirabdollahian spoke about the determination of Iran’s diplomatic apparatus to remove all obstacles in the way of providing services and emphasized the need to support all-out legal and consular services to Iranians abroad.
The top Iranian diplomat highlighted some of the measures taken in the first year of the 13th Iranian administration including facilitating the movement of Iranians abroad, drafting a comprehensive law for Iranians, facilitating financial transfers and consular services, and starting issuance of national cards for Iranians living in the United States and other countries.
He also stressed that the necessity of facilitating the participation of Iranians living abroad in the development of the country and strengthening the connection between the third and fourth generations of Iranian expatriates are among the basic priorities of the Iranian foreign policy apparatus.
Amirabdollahian, referring to the guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the orders by the president to pay serious attention to solving the consular and legal problems of Iranians abroad, added, “One of the most important duties of all embassies and consulates of Iran is to serve without interruption and discrimination to all dear Iranians, regardless of their religious and political orientation.”
In the meeting, the head and members of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Interests Section Office in Washington presented a report on their tasks to the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Reducing the time needed to provide consular services, optimizing administrative processes and providing expert consular and legal advice to all Iranians living in the United States by the Office of Interests Section were among the issues the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized in the meeting.
