Iranian Japanese FMs hold telephone conversation on bilateral ties intl. developments
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi held a telephone conversation at noon on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and international developments.

At the beginning of the talks, Araghchi congratulated Toshimitsu on his reappointment as Japan’s Foreign Minister. He expressed hope that, given the experience of Toshimitsu’s previous term and the record of constructive relations between the two countries during his tenure, close, creative, and effective cooperation would continue in this new period as well.
The top Iranian diplomat reviewed the latest developments related to Iran’s nuclear program and the actions and positions of the US and the European troika. Araghchi said it’s the US that must return to diplomacy by restoring Iran’s trust.
The Japanese foreign minister referred to his country’s commitment to playing a constructive role in strengthening peace and stability in the West Asia region and reaffirmed Tokyo’s support for political initiatives aimed at resolving regional and international issues.
The two foreign ministers also discussed the latest state of bilateral cooperation and consular matters between the two countries. They underlined the need for continued regular consultations to further strengthen the friendly relations between Iran and Japan.
