Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi arrived in Ashgabat late Monday night to hold talks with senior officials of Turkmenistan.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, arrived in Ashgabat late Monday night to hold talks with senior officials of Turkmenistan.
Araghchi was welcomed by Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
In the first round of talks between the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan, Araghchi elaborated on the regional situation following the military aggression by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran, emphasizing the unjustified and illegal nature of the assault.
Araghchi described the US attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran as a sign of the Zionist regime’s weakness and desperation in confronting Iran.
Stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek to escalate tensions in the region, he stated that Iran’s missile strike on the Al-Udeid military base was a response to the blatant US violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to respond again if the US takes further action.
Turkmenistan’s foreign minister also emphasized in the meeting, “We are a close neighbor of Iran, and from the very beginning of the Zionist regime’s attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran, we declared our opposition to it.”
“As a neutral country, Turkmenistan does not consider the use of force and threats as acceptable means for resolving issues,” he concluded.
