Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to hold an emergency session.   Araghchi made the demand in a meeting with the OIC’s Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha in New York on Saturday.   He underlined that Muslim countries have a duty regarding the crimes by the Zionist regime in Palestine and Lebanon.    The foreign minister referred to the brutal and inhumane crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and Beirut, saying that Friday’s attack by Israel against the crowded areas of Beirut with large bunker buster bombs is a clear example of crime against humanity, and unfortunately, institutions such as the UN Security Council lack the necessary will to confront and stop the crimes of the Zionist regime while the US also provides all-out political and military support to the regime.   He also pointed to the recent crime of the Zionist regime in the cowardly assassination of Seyed Hassan Nasrallah the secretary general of Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah. The top iranian diplomat underscored the responsibility of Islamic countries, especially the OIC, and called for an urgent meeting of the heads of state of the organization’s member states.   Araghchi further noted that this is not the first time that Hezbollah loses a brave leader, and surely the path of resistance will continue more strongly than before.   OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha for his part spoke about the continuation of the Israeli regime's acts of aggression and crimes in the region and condemned it.   Taha further highlighted the seriousness of the situation, saying he had held urgent consultations with the member states of the OIC regarding the holding of an emergency meeting of the organization’s heads of state and that he will take appropriate measure in this respect
