Iran Russia FMs hold phone conversation reaffirm end to Israeli war on Lebanon

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi at noon on Wednesday during which they discussed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding as well as a number of regional and bilateral issues.

During the phone call, Iran's Foreign Minister elaborated on the details of the memorandum and emphasized the United States' responsibility for ensuring the proper implementation of its provisions, as well as the necessity of a complete cessation of the Zionist regime's aggression against Lebanon.
For his part, the Russian Foreign Minister welcomed the finalization of the text of the memorandum and reaffirmed his country's full support for the implementation of its provisions.
Referring to the need for support from the international community and the United Nations Security Council for the memorandum, the foreign ministers of the two countries also stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic cooperation among the countries of the region with the aim of consolidating peace and stability.
The two sides also exchanged views on a number of issues related to bilateral relations and agreed to follow up on and address the matters raised.
