Iran Foreign Ministry summons ambassadors of EU member states after hostile move against IRGC

The ambassadors of the member states of the European Union were summoned by the Deputy Minister of Political Affairs and relevant Directors-General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry following the anti-Iranian resolutions adopted by the Council of Ministers of the European Union against the Islamic Republic of Iran on Thursday January 29 including the offensive labeling of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

The ambassadors of the member states of the European Union were summoned by the Deputy Minister of Political Affairs and relevant Directors-General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, following the anti-Iranian resolutions adopted by the Council of Ministers of the European Union against the Islamic Republic of Iran on Thursday, January 29, including the offensive labeling of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s strong protest against these provocative measures was communicated to them.

During these summons, the position of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran in strongly condemning the unjustified and irresponsible decisions of the Council of Ministers of the EU was explained. It was emphasized that the EU’s actions not only constitute a clear violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law regarding respect for the national sovereignty of states and the prohibition of interference in the internal affairs of countries but are also considered a strategic mistake and an unforgivable insult to the Iranian nation.

Due to the inappropriate and insidious positions of some of its key members regarding regional developments, particularly their support for the genocide of Palestinians, endorsement of the Zionist regime’s military aggression against Iran, and support for terrorist actions against the Iranian people from January 8 to 10, 2026, the EU must be held accountable for its destructive and unlawful policies and actions, the ambassadors were told.

Additionally, referring to the mission and performance of the IRGC as the defender of Iran’s national security and the most effective force against Daesh terrorism, it was underscored that the European Union’s unlawful resolution sets a dangerous precedent in international relations and undermines the principle of the rule of law, thereby weakening international peace and security and disrupting cooperation in the fight against terrorism. They were told the consequences of these actions will fall on European policymakers.

The ambassadors of the EU member states stated that they would convey the content of the meeting to the relevant authorities of their respective countries as soon as possible.
