Foreign Ministers of Iran and Pakistan hold telephone conversation

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

During the conversation, Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s negative vote on the biased resolution proposed by several Western countries against Iran at the Human Rights Council, which failed to gain the support of nearly half of the Council’s member states. He also condemned the use of the human rights issue as a tool to exert pressure on independent countries.

The Pakistani foreign minister for his part referred to his country’s principled stance on the need to respect countries’ sovereignty, to avoid interference in their internal affairs, and to condemn terrorism. Ishaq Dar further underlined Pakistan’s determination to strengthen cooperation with Iran.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments.
