Iranian FM Araghchi talks with Venezuelan counterpart on phone
Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran held a telephone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart Yván Gil Pinto. During the phone call they exchanged views on bilateral relations and developments in the Caribbean region.

Referring to the very positive Iran–Venezuela relations across various fields, the Iranian Foreign Minister underscored the determination of the leaders of the two nations to consolidate and expand bilateral ties in furtherance of the interests of both countries.
Araghchi described the actions of the United States against maritime security in the Caribbean region, as well as its threats to resort to the use of force against Venezuela, as flagrant violations of the fundamental principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. While expressing solidarity with and support for the people and the elected Government of Venezuela, he emphasized the responsibility of the international community to firmly oppose these unlawful and unilateral measures, which constitute an explicit threat to regional and global peace and stability.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the principled positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in demonstrating solidarity with the people and the elected Government of Venezuela in the face of unlawful and oppressive threats and sanctions imposed by the United States. He reaffirmed the determination of the Government and people of Venezuela to defend the national sovereignty and independence of their country against such pressures.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Iran and Venezuela also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral coordination and cooperation within international fora in order to counter unilateralism and to uphold and defend the national sovereignty of States.
