Foreign ministers of Iran Cyprus discuss bilateral international developments in phone conversation

Araghchi highlighted Iran’s principled approach of respecting the national sovereignty of all countries, including Cyprus, and stressed the necessity of adhering to the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, particularly national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects any interventionist stance regarding its territorial integrity as unacceptable.

 

The Cypriot foreign minister, in turn, underscored the longstanding relations between Cyprus and Iran, affirming that Cyprus remains committed to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations, including Iran.

 

Referring to Cyprus’s upcoming presidency of the European Union in early 2026, he expressed hope that his country could play a constructive role in advancing EU-Iran relations.

 

During the call, the two ministers also exchanged views on bilateral relations between Iran and Cyprus as well as international developments.
