Iranian UK foreign ministers hold telephone talks on bilateral nuclear issues
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper held a telephone conversation on Friday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper held a telephone conversation on Friday.
During the call, the two ministers discussed aspects of bilateral relations, including consular issues, and emphasized the need to continue talks at various levels to strengthen mutual understanding and pursue matters of interest to both sides.
Araghchi criticized the irresponsible approach of the three European countries, the UK, France, and Germany, regarding Iran’s nuclear issue.
He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never rejected negotiations or dialogue based on respect for the legitimate rights and interests of the Iranian people. However, he underlined that negotiations imposed in a unilateral manner are unacceptable.
The UK foreign secretary reaffirmed her country’s position on the necessity of using diplomacy in relation to Iran’s nuclear issue.
