Iran condemns terrorist attack by Zionist regime on residential areas in Beirut assassination of top resistance commander

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the Sunday evening attack by warplanes of the aggressor Zionist regime on a residential area in Beirut’s southern suburb and the cowardly assassination of senior commander of the Islamic resistance in Lebanon, martyr Haitham Ali Tabatabaei.
This act constitutes a blatant violation of the November 2024 ceasefire and a savage assault on Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of ordinary Lebanese citizens, including innocent women and children.
The foreign ministry emphasizes the necessity of prosecuting and punishing the heads of the regime for committing the terrorist act and war crime.
While paying tribute to the lofty status of martyr Tabatabaei, who devoted his blessed life to defending Lebanon and resisting the Zionist enemy, and offering condolences to the leadership and fighters of Lebanon’s Hezbollah and to the families of the martyrs, the foreign ministry considers continued US support for the Zionist regime to be the fundamental factor behind its persistent lawlessness and aggressions, and reminds the direct responsibility of the ceasefire guarantors in this regard.
Recalling the repeated violations of the ceasefire by the Zionist regime, the foreign ministry regards the inaction and silence of the United Nations and its Security Council in the face of the Israeli regime’s ongoing aggressions and countless crimes against the people of Lebanon as regrettable and unjustifiable.
It calls for serious action by the international community to confront the organized terrorism and warmongering of the Zionist regime against Lebanon and other countries of the region.
Undoubtedly, the military adventurism of the Zionist regime in West Asia is the greatest threat not only to peace and stability in this region but also to international peace and security. Therefore, confronting this threat is a global responsibility.
