Directors general of Iran Turkey Foreign Ministries meet in Tehran

The directors general of the Foreign Ministries of Iran and Turkey have held talks in Tehran. The meeting was hosted by Mahmoud Heidari, an assistant to Iran’s foreign minister and the Foreign Ministry’s Director General for the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe. Reza Gunay, Regional Director General for Iran and Iraq of the Turkish Foreign Ministry was heading his country’s delegation.
The meeting, which was also attended by Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Hicabi Kirlangic, focused on the latest developments in bilateral relations between the two countries in the political, economic, and cultural fields. The two sides exchanged views on ways of strengthening the Tehran-Ankara ties at various levels.
Topics discussed included enhancing trade, banking, and tourism relations, boosting parliamentary ties, improving border security, and expanding cooperation in judicial, consular, scientific, academic, and environmental areas.
Heidari thanked Turkey’s government for approving the establishment of a Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Turkish city of Van. He called for swift action to address certain problems that have happened to some Iranian nationals in Turkey
