Iran Malaysia joint high commission meeting held in Tehran chaired by FMs

The 8th meeting of the Joint High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Malaysia chaired by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Malaysian counterpart Mohamad Hasan was held in Tehran.

During the meeting, the top diplomats of Iran and Malaysia exchanged views on various aspects of the relations and cooperation between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral levels as well as in regional and international forums.

Araghchi and Muhammad Hassan underlined the firm determination of the two countries' leaders to implement the memorandums of understanding aimed at further boosting bilateral ties particularly in economic, trade, scientific, technological, cultural and academic fields.

Referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s policy of expanding relations with Asian countries and developing and Muslim nations, Araghchi stressed Tehran’s willingness to expand ties with Malaysia as an important country in Asia and the Muslim world.

Araghchi also congratulated Malaysia on its chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and wished the country success in its role in this important regional organization in Asia.

He also congratulated Malaysia on its membership in the BRICS grouping and stressed the need to use the organization's capacities to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations.

Araghchi appreciated the valuable and honorable stance of the Malaysian people and government in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people during 16-month genocidal war of the Zionist regime and in the face of its war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.
He referred to the upcoming meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s foreign ministers in Jeddah, describing it as an appropriate opportunity to announce the firm and united position of the major Islamic countries in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and their condemnation of the colonial plot to forcibly displace the Palestinians.

The Malaysian foreign minister for his part said he was pleased to visit Tehran and described his talks with Araghchi as important and fruitful. Mohamad Hasan
said Iran, with its rich historical background and civilizational heritage and as an important and influential country in the West Asian region, has a special place in Malaysia's foreign policy.

Mohamad Hasan appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for his country's membership in BRICS. He underscored the need to strengthen relations between the people of the two countries, especially businesspeople and traders.

The top Malaysian
diplomat reaffirmed his country’s continued support for the rights of the Palestinian people as well as the cooperation among Muslim countries to condemn the acts of aggression and crimes of the Zionist regime.

The two foreign ministers expressed satisfaction with the talks and agreements reached by the negotiating teams of Iran and Malaysia before holding their Joint High Commission, as well as with the constructive and fruitful discussions between the two top diplomats during the meeting of the commission.
They voiced hope that consultations between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur, within the framework of the Joint High Commission of the two countries, will lead to the development of an effective roadmap for the comprehensive promotion of bilateral relations at the regional level, as well as greater cooperation in the United Nations and other international organizations.

In the end, the minutes of meeting of the 8th  session of the High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Malaysia was signed by Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Muhammad Hassan, Foreign Ministers of the two countries.
