Senior advisor to Iranian FM meets with top Syrian diplomat deputy minister

During the meetings, the Iranian and Syrian officials discussed the latest status of bilateral ties, Syria's domestic developments as well as international issues.

While congratulating the successful parliamentary elections in Syria, Khaji stressed that the process of solving Syria's political and security problems is moving forward faster.

He also thanked Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the high-ranking delegation of Syria for their participation in the ceremony in commemoration of late President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions.
Khaji referred to Assad’s telephone conversation with Iran’s President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian and underlined the strategic nature of the relations between the two countries. He said the new Iranian administration will make an effort to implement the existing agreements between Tehran and Damascus.

In these meetings, the two sides exchanged views on the expansion of bilateral relations in various spheres, the latest developments in Syria and the wider region, the return of Syrian refugees to their country, the holding of the Syrian Constitutional Committee meeting, and the latest moves to resume political talks to restore the Syria-Turkey relations.

They condemned the Western countries for politicizing the issue of refugees and demanded the implementation of the UN resolution regarding the immediate reconstruction of Syria and efforts to pave the way for the return of refugees and provide the appropriate facilities for this purpose.
