FM Amirabdollahian: Iran’s operation against Israel was ‘limited minimal

Amirabdollahian as part of his diplomatic meetings in New York met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi and held talks with him.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, as part of his diplomatic meetings in New York, met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi on Thursday and held talks with him.

Amirabdollahian cited the continued US support for the Israeli regime and its unwillingness to stop the conflict alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s warmongering policy as the main reasons for the continuation of the genocide against the Palestinians.

He said the international community, especially Muslim states, should continue efforts to put an end to the genocide.

During the talks, the Iranian foreign minister underlined the need for Iran’s military action as a warning and punitive response to the Israeli regime’s flagrant attack on Iran’s Embassy in Damascus within the framework of legitimate defense and expounded on its dimensions.

He reiterated that Iran's military strike against the military and intelligence bases from where Israel launched the attack on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus was accurate and calculated.

Stating that that the military response to Israel's strike was “only a limited and minimal operation,” Amirabdollahian stressed that Iran is determined to help boost peace and stability in the region.

He, however, warned if the Israeli regime seeks to pursue its adventurous moves, Iran's response next time will be “decisive, immediate, and maximal.”

The Iranian foreign minister also highlighted the dire situation in the Gaza Strip and other parts of occupied Palestinian territories and as a result of the Zionist regime’s ongoing crimes and aggressions against the oppressed Palestinian people.

He demanded the international community, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its member states, make a decisive move to confront the regime and stop its crimes.

For his part, the Jordanian foreign minister said he was pleased to hold the meeting. He commended Iran for its diplomatic push to stop the war in Gaza, saying, “The Palestinian issue is of high priority for Jordan and we will continue our efforts to end the war in Gaza.”

Al-Safadi said the situation in Palestine is ‘tough and complicated’ and shed light on the ongoing political efforts to tackle the issue, adding, “Jordan will continue its efforts to stop the war against Gaza with all possible means.”

He also elaborated on Jordan’s views on the political solution of the Palestinian crisis and stressed his country’s strong opposition to any attempt to displace Palestinians and relocate them to the neighboring countries.

The Jordanian foreign minister stressed on Iran and Jordan’s shared view on the need to immediately stop the war on Gaza, adding efforts on this path should continue.

The two sides also discussed some bilateral and regional issues in the meeting
