Iran says does not want tension

Iran says does not want tension warns against baseless accusations following deadly attack on US forces in Jordan

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani says Iran has since the beginning of the war in Gaza raised the alarm over the expansion of the conflict amid the Zionist regime’s aggression against the Palestinians and the all-out US support for the genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Kanaani made the remarks on Monday in reaction to reports of an attack on US troops in Jordan a day earlier.

He warned the ongoing and repeated violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and Syria by the US forces and the strikes and invasion against the groups and individuals in Iraq, Syria and Yemen will escalate the cycle of instability.

Reiterating that maintaining peace, stability and security in the region are significant for Iran, the spokesperson added the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the war in Gaza is not the solution.

He said the Zionist regime should stop its attacks on Gaza and establish an immediate ceasefire which can serve as the basis for the restoration of peace to the region.

The Iranian spokesperson stressed that the resistance groups in the region do not take orders from Iran in their decisions or actions.

He added Iran does not welcome the expansion of conflicts in the region, and is not involved in the decisions by the resistance factions to support the Palestinian nation or defend themselves and the people of their own countries against aggression and occupation.

Kanaani stated, “Repeating the unfounded allegations against Iran is shifting of the blame and a plot by those who see their interests in once again getting the US involved in a new conflict in the region and provoke it to expand and escalate the crisis in order to put a lid on their problems in this way.”

The foreign ministry spokesman emphasized, “Iran is monitoring the developments in the region with preparedness and vigilance, and the responsibility for the repercussions of provocative allegations against Iran lies with those who make such baseless claims.”
