Iranian Saudi FMs undermine hiccup in Hajj pilgrimage stress Gaza war should stop

Iranian Foreign Minister had a phone conversation with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan and discussed some issues of interest for both countries in their bilateral ties as well as the latest developments in Palestine and exchanged views on the issues.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian had a phone conversation with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan on Thursday and discussed some issues of interest for both countries in their bilateral ties as well as the latest developments in Palestine and exchanged views on the issues.

Referring to a visit by a Saudi parliamentary delegation to Iran and a visit by an Iranian delegation from the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade to Saudi Arabia, as well as a meeting between the head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization with the Saudi Hajj minister, the Iranian foreign minister said, “The political ties between the two countries are on the right track and are expanding within the framework of the deal between the Iranian president and the Saudi crown prince.”

Amirabdollahian cited the agreement between the two countries on sending Iranians to the Umrah Hajj pilgrimage and discussed the delay in the pilgrimage and ways to resolve the issue with his Saudi counterpart.

The top Iranian diplomat highlighted the Saudi move to host a meeting of the heads of Islamic and Arab countries with the goal of stopping the Gaza war and sending humanitarian aid to the blockaded strip. He also expressed Iran’s support for South Africa’s move to lodge a complaint with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against the Zionist regime.

As for the Zionists’ continued crimes in killing the Palestinian people, Amirabdollahian pointed out, “The US has been saying for a hundred days that the war should not spread, but in practice it does not show any seriousness in stopping the war and genocide in Gaza.”

For his part, the Saudi foreign minister said the ties between the two countries are expanding and added, “We are still awaiting an official visit by Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to Saudi Arabia.”

On the Iranian flights for the Umrah Hajj pilgrims, bin Farhan assured the Iranian foreign minister that the problem is only technical and will soon be resolved so the Iranian pilgrims can go to Saudi Arabia to perform the Umrah Hajj pilgrimage.

The Saudi foreign minister also referred to Amirabdollahian’s views on South Africa’s lawsuit against the Zionist regime at the ICJ, saying, “We should continue to apply pressure as much as possible to stop the war against Gaza.”

The Iranian and Saudi foreign ministers conveyed the greetings of the heads of the two countries to each other, saying the continuation of bilateral talks are constructive.

Amirabdollahian also raised the issue of the Saudi crown prince’s trip to Tehran and invited his Saudi counterpart to visit Iran.
