Iran FM hosts Malaysian counterpart, discusses various issue

Referring to the good relations between the two countries and the importance of Malaysia as a major Asian country, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized that Tehran does not put any restrictions on the comprehensive development of relations with Malaysia as a friendly and brotherly country.

 

Amirabdollahian stressed on an agreement by both parties to hold a meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation.

 

The Iranian foreign minister said the visit by his Malaysian counterpart was the beginning of a new phase in the relations between the two countries and noted that the deep cultural, scientific and religious commonalities as well as the friendly views of the people of the two countries are a great asset for the expansion of bilateral relations.

 

Referring to the judicial and consular cooperation between the two countries, including the issue of transferring the criminals, the head of Iran’s diplomatic body highlighted the exchange of female prisoners of the two countries in the near future as a humanitarian move and emphasized Iran’s readiness to implement it.

 

Amirabdollahian singled out the Zionist occupying regime as the most important cause of instability in the region and pointed out that many leaders of the regional countries think of providing endogenous security away from the interference of others.

 

During the meeting, Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir in turn described the relationship between Malaysia and Iran as important.

 

He considered his visit to Tehran as a step on the part of Malaysia to strengthen bilateral relations and an indicator of his country's readiness and commitment to strengthen cooperation.

 

Referring to the presidency of his country of the joint meeting between the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and ASEAN this year, Abdul Kadir said Malaysia's diplomatic capacities are an opportunity for greater dynamism in bilateral and multilateral interactions and defining new areas of cooperation with the regional countries, including Iran.

 

Emphasis on the preparation and signing of cooperation documents between the two countries as soon as possible in the economic and commercial fields, agriculture, food, pharmaceutical and health industries, science and technology and tourism, cooperation in sports and increasing friendly competitions in all fields of sports, strengthening the diplomacy of the leaders and the mutual invitation of the heads of the two governments, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, as well as development of cooperation between think tanks and academic and scientific diplomacy were among the other topics discussed by the foreign ministers in the meeting.

 

Regarding the recent desecration of the Holy Quran, Amirabdollahian in a joint press conference with his Malaysian counterpart, stated, “I warn the governments and the police of Denmark and Sweden that the Islamic world and the Islamic Ummah will not tolerate the continued desecration of the Holy Quran.”

 

Amirabdollahian noted that the continuation of insulting the Holy Quran is a serious factor in the growth and development of extremism, violence and terrorism in Europe and added, “In the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the idea of boycotting Swedish and Danish goods in the Islamic world was raised, and the foreign ministers of the Islamic countries will follow up on the issue
