Iran, Lebanon FMs meet in Beirut
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib sat down to discuss issues of mutual concern in bilateral, regional and international fields.

Amirabdollahian congratulated his Lebanese counterpart, as well as the government and people of Lebanon on the New Year.
He emphasized Tehran’s support for Lebanon's stability and security as the
the permanent principle of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The top Iranian diplomat invited all Lebanese sides to hold dialog in order to complete the political process in the country, saying past experiences show, despite ups and downs, Lebanon’s political currents will reach a national agreement benefiting the nation, thanks to their wisdom and tact.
Amirabdollahian emphasized Iran's support for the political process and restoration of stability in Lebanon and non-interference in the country's internal affairs.
He expressed confidence that the Lebanese groups will elect the country’s new president at the earliest through vigilance, wisdom and competence.
Amirabdollahian also emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to help alleviate the sufferings of the Lebanese people pertaining to the electricity and energy crisis, adding that Iran is ready to help repair the power plants and build new ones in Lebanon.
He also expressed hope after the formation of the new government in Lebanon, the next meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation between the two countries will be held as soon as possible.
The Iranian foreign minister briefed his Lebanese counterpart on the latest status of the sanctions removal negotiations as well as Iran-Saudi talks.
Yemen and Palestine developments were other topics discussed by the two foreign ministers.
Abdallah Bou Habib Lebanon’s Foreign Minister for his part expressed pleasure with meeting Amirabdollahian and thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting the stability of Lebanon. He said Lebanon also supports stability in Iran.
Welcoming the expansion of cooperation between Lebanon and the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields, Bou Habib thanked Iran’s constant support for the restoration of stability to Lebanon and Tehran's goodwill in helping Beirut resolve its economic woes.
He also welcomed the holding of the joint commission for the economic cooperation between the two countries after the formation of a new government in Lebanon.
