Raised in the seventh meeting of the Iran-Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council;

Agreement to develop ties in economic, infrastructure, security, political, cultural, sports fields

The solutions to improve relations between Tehran and Ankara in various areas were discussed in the seventh meeting of the Supreme Council of Iran-Turkey Cooperation.

The meeting was held on Tuesday with Ayatollah Raisi, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other high-ranking officials of the two countries taking part, which was hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this meeting, Ayatollah Raisi emphasised the serious determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop the level of relations with its neighbours and said, "Iran welcomes the improvement of the level of relations with all its neighbours, and due to the many common grounds and history of long-standing friendship with our country, the Republic of Turkey enjoys a very high position in the political and commercial relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region.
The President described the relations between the two countries as positive and improving, and noted, "It is necessary for the two countries to move toward the goal of 30 billion dollars in annual trade exchanges with principled policies and development of cooperation".
In this meeting, referring to the 60% increase in the level of relations between Iran and Turkey in the past year, the two sides focused on interaction in the fields of building science and technology parks, cooperation in the field of environment, extradition of criminals, solving the problem of fine dust, developing cooperation in the fields of energy, economy and sports and facilitating banking and investment transactions.
Also, in the seventh meeting of the Iran-Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council, the Islamic Republic of Iran announced its readiness to provide sustainable energy to Turkey through gas exports. In this context, it was agreed that the extension of Iran's gas export contract to Turkey for the next 25 years and increasing the amount of gas export should be on the agenda of the parties, for which the negotiations have started.
In this meeting, Iran's concerns regarding the Aras River and the need to secure the rights of the Iranian people in this regard were raised with the other side and it was decided that the issue should be taken into consideration in the future consultations of the two sides.
