The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who has traveled to Baku for talks with senior officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met and held talks on Monday morning with the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
During the meeting, a range of bilateral issues were discussed, including the course of political interactions, matters related to neighborhood ties, and mechanisms for managing relations between the two countries.
The Iranian foreign minister, while conveying the warm greetings of President Massoud Pezeshkian to the President of Azerbaijan, referred to the deep and longstanding ties between the two nations and emphasized the determination and will of the Islamic Republic of Iran to strengthen and expand relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan in all areas of mutual interest.
Pointing to the importance of a long-term perspective in neighborly relations, the foreign minister stressed the role of continuous diplomatic talks in resolving misunderstandings and managing issues between the two sides.
The president of the Republic of Azerbaijan conveyed his greetings in return to President Pezeshkian, and described his visit to Baku as a historic trip that has played an important role in bolstering understanding and improving ties between the two countries.
President Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the growing trend of bilateral relations, and emphasized Azerbaijan’s readiness to use all available capacities to expand ties.
During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister also outlined the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding regional developments.
