Foreign ministers of Islamic Republic of Iran Republic of Azerbaijan meet in Baku
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi who has traveled to Baku for talks with the government of Azerbaijan met on Monday noon with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov and held discussions on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who has traveled to Baku for talks with the government of Azerbaijan, met on Monday noon with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, and held discussions on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.   While reviewing the state of bilateral relations during the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to expand cooperation in various fields, including economic-commercial relations, transportation, and energy.   The Iranian foreign minister referred to the longstanding historical, civilizational, cultural, and religious commonalities between Iran and Azerbaijan, and described the shared will of the leaders of the two countries to enhance mutual understanding and trust and to strengthen bilateral relations as highly valuable, and emphasized the need to take maximum advantage of this opportunity to further improve bilateral ties.   While pointing to the importance of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, Araghchi also stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always worked toward creating lasting security and stability in the region, and has encouraged both Armenia and Azerbaijan to finalize a peace understanding.    In this regard, he reiterated that the 3+3 framework remains a useful platform for the participation of regional countries in safeguarding peace and stability in the Caucasus without the interference of any external party.   For his part, the foreign minister of Azerbaijan considered the historical, cultural, civilizational, and religious bonds connecting the two nations of Azerbaijan and Iran an important foundation for strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries, and emphasized his country’s readiness to enhance relations and expand cooperation.   Joint border security, combating transnational organized crimes including narcotics trafficking, transportation and transit, energy, and the follow-up on the implementation of the agreements reached between the two presidents during Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Baku were among the other issues discussed in this meeting.
