We respect Algeria’s role and position within the United Nations Security Council in defending Palestine.   The relationship between Iran and Algeria—as two friendly and Muslim countries—has long been deep-rooted, strong, and brotherly. Our countries share very close views on international and regional matters, and have consistently maintained close consultations and dialogue at bilateral and regional levels.   In my meeting with the President of Algeria, we discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including economic cooperation, political consultations between our two countries, and coordination within international fora.   Most notably, the question of Palestine and the atrocities committed by the occupying Zionist regime against the Palestinian people was a central topic of our discussions.   In our view, Algeria’s stance at the United Nations Security Council over the past year—as a member of the Council—has been exceptionally courageous.   Political exchanges and mutual visits between our two nations will continue, and we hope to host the esteemed President of Algeria in Iran in the new year
