Following the Zionist regime’s act of aggression and its attack on the Damascus airport, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic during a phone conversation with his Syrian counterpart. Amirabdollahian underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been and will always stand with the government and people of Syria.

The top Iranian diplomat said the continuation of the aggressive Zionist regime’s attacks against the infrastructure installations of Syria including airports, ports and other key and vital centers of the country constitutes not only a violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also a breach of all international rules and norms as well as humanitarian laws.

Amirabdollahian described as regrettable and shameful the unacceptable silence of world countries and the international community as well as regional and international bodies and quarters.

During the telephone conversation, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support and underscored the continuation of resistance of the Syrian people against the Zionist regime’s occupation and aggression.
Mekdad reiterated that such desperate moves and acts of aggression by the Zionist regime in the region indicate the occupying entity’s fear and weakness. The Zionists are bent on disrupting peace and stability in the region with the aim of covering up their unstable and fragile situation.

Mekdad added the Zionist regime’s attacks are aimed at strengthening the remnants of terrorist groups including Daesh and al-Nusrah Front in Syria, although the raids will get nowhere.

The top Syrian diplomat stressed in the end that such acts of aggression will strengthen the resolve of the Syrian government and people in the face of occupation and terrorism more than ever before.
